Souk is a furniture store in Chennai that specialises in hand-picked furniture, artefacts and home accessories. It supplies designers, architects and individuals with an discerning eye with unique pieces that are sourced from across India and the world. As they have been individually selected and adapted, Souk’s pieces are difficult to come by elsewhere. Beautiful and unusual, a single piece from Souk can transform a traditional or contemporary room.
Souk also works as an interior design service for restaurants and homes. Recent projects include Sunny’s restaurant in Bangalore, Cafe Latitude in Chennai, and luxury homes across India.
Souk is run by Soumya Keshavan, an interior designer and curator. Having travelled the world for three decades, Soumya has developed an expert eye and is consumed by her interest in singular furniture. Recent destinations to find pieces for Souk range from Burma and Bali to Central Asia and North Africa.
Outside of Souk, Soumya runs the Good Earth franchise in Chennai. She has been described by Architectural Digest as “one of Chennai’s foremost interior designers….a force to be reckoned with”.
